Although not recommended, there is no real reason to find your downlink other than avoiding other stations. Back when folks had separate transmitters and receivers it was even common practice on HF to call on your (crystal) frequency and
tune around the band for someone answering your call. The same applies to satellites.
Again not recommended but very doableā¦.

I saw a PowerPoint presentation on this new Icom radio suggesting it could be used for satellite operation, but it's my understanding that it is not full duplex so how are they using it on satellites without
experiencing great difficulty finding their own downlink? I also am not sure if SatPC32 is compatible with this radio. Does anyone have any experience using the 705 for satellite operation?
