Though you may find the Elk construction to be a little flimsy for a permanent installation, you should be able to "end mount" the boom with little significant distortion of the pattern.
Using some aluminum plates and a few bolts or U-bolts should work. Remember your 15 degrees of elevation for the satellite "sweet spot" (there are many of those who suggest more, not many less.)
Realize you will lose the flexibility of "hand polarization" that it offers on the ground and enjoy!

I think I'm going to get a used Elk ant to mount on top of my 20ft tower or at least would like to. It would go on the top of the lil 20ft tower and 5 ft above it would be a 9 el 2m yagi. The mast is metal and I'm wondering how to mount it to the mast and mostly will the metal mast work ok???
