Oh, I forgot to mention - be sure to start at "L" Tx power on the linears and work your way up from there. As I said below, I don't have experience as to how each of the "L, 1-9, H" power settings are correlated to the published max values for 70cm and 2m, but more than 5 watts on the linears can cause serious problems for some sats (AO-07) and can cause annoying problems for other users on all of them.

Max, I have recently purchased the same transceiver. If you plan on operating half duplex on linear sats, check out W5PFG's video here: https://youtu.be/vke3pWkKULU Not the same transceiver, but what Clayton shows is how to operate using a split frequency with the A and B VFO's, which the 706 also can do. If you have a second transceiver, or a receiver (such as a decent SDR), then you can operate full duplex. I have not attempted either, yet (as weather has not be cooperating here in the Northeast USA). FM is basically the same (half duplex with split frequency), but you need to enable tone on uplink vfo for full functionality (and much less tuning, especially on 2m). --Roy K3RLD >* Good afternoon, Tell me, please, what I need to start working through *>* satellites using *>* this transceiver.
