Hi Andrew,
I built a 10 turn helix for 435 MHz.
I have 15 meters of RG-213.
Radio is an ICOM 706 mkii G
I am not getting strong signals like I would have expected ?
Can someone share their setups and signal strengths ?
Maybe a pre-amp might help ?
Yes, the first thing to try is a pre-amp. AT THE ANTENNA!!
Or add turns to the helix, helps some...
Hope you are using "N" connectors, and if the coax is not fairly new, new coax....
That should do the trick.
If not build a quadrifilar....I've checked it vs a 16 turn helix, and the quad was better.
Plans to build one at:

Buy everything new, and the connector is the most expensive part!!
Ordinary hand tools will do it easily...
