Hi Paul,
I occasionally use my SDRPlay RSP1A to just listen to linear and FM sats. I'm very happy with how it works as I can see any signal on the band and just click on it to listen. I haven't attempted to setup doppler correction yet because I don't have a good transmitting antenna to use in that setup and it is no problem to adjust the doppler correction manually when listening. Another neat feature is that the software (SDRUno) can record the entire bandwidth that you are looking at. For example you could be recording the entire downlink while the sat is passing and then listen to every QSO from the recording and decode the telemetry.
I did synchronize the frequency control for when I use the SDR receiver on HF and that used SDRUno with Omnirig, so I guess any software package that works with Omnirig will be able to control the frequency. Or if you need something else, there are other software packages for controlling the SDR, other than SDRUno.
Best wishes, Milen KG2C

Anyone using sdr for linear sats? Very new to these and have zero experience with sdr. Looking for any input and hints for using these for the ssb birds.
