Ray, I experienced similar issue with my 5400 rotator box, it was sporadic and plagued me for years.  I found the AZ meter in the control unit wasn’t making good contact with the board.  There are two screws attaching it to the board and they weren’t tight enough.  I cleaned the contacts, applied copper paste at the points and it works better than new.  Open the box, jiggle the board and see if the meter works or not.  I have a separate controller unit I used for parts…if you need something to fix that issue I might have it.

Mike,

See my post script post :)

That’s my tentative conclusion. Since the el meter is seeing the position change when the el side of the controller is running the az rotator, it points to a fault in the az meter circuit.

If Fox-Delta uses feedback from the rotor and it is working I would think something in the metering circuit is bad. Not the rotor or cables. Bad Meter? Mike

I’ve had the rotator about two years and use it with antennas in the attic. Everything is working normally except the az meter on the controller no longer registers. The controller runs fine and the az and el motors are moving as they should. Fox Delta displays az and el properly, and matches what SatPC32 is telling it. But no reading on the G5500DC az meter anymore. The el meter remains fine.

I can’t find a schematic for the DC version of the 5500. Anyone else had this problem and cured it?
