In an terminal program on the port that your MFJ is on, use the ALT and 3 keypad number keys
alt192 alt255 alt192
If this problem is a regular occurrence, look for a file on the internet called SETKISS.EXE and you can then run it in a batch file to turn kiss on or off.
If you can't locate it on the web, let me know and I'm email you a ZIP file with the executable, sample bat file and configuration files to set the port number and baudrate need to poke these 3 characters at the TNC.
