Now that’s an answer.

Thanks Erich.

Hi,

SatPC32 stores the  configuration setting. So it starts with the configuration that you used last When you start a second instance and change the settings  the second instance will work with these settings. But you can't save the two different settings. At the next program start both instances start with the same (last) configuration and therefore with equal settings.

But there is a way to  run two instances of SatPC32 with two completely different configurations at the same time inclusive rotor and CAT control and storing  of all settings.

Of course, this only makes sense if you use 2 independent rotor / antenna systems and multiple radios. EACH  instance requires either a satellite transceiver or  two separate non-satellite radios, one for RX (Radio 1) and one for TX (Radio 2) and the necessary ports etc.

To run two instances you need a  2nd SatPC32.exe file in the SatPC32 program folder. The name must be different of course, e.g. SatPC32_2.exe.

The 2nd program  file must be permanently set to a specific configuration - say configuration 4 -   regardless of the configuration chosen in menu Setup > Configuration. So, a modified file is required (the modification requires only 2 lines of code). Some years agao I have uploaded a file SatPC32_2.exe for a friend of mine. It works fix with configuration 4: www.dk1tb.de/SatPC32_2.exe

For the 1st SatPC32.exe  you can choose Configurations 1 - 3 with different settings. .
(For CAT control of the IC-9700 this file should be used because the other one is some years old.)

To avoid hardware conflicts rotor and CAT control are disabled (default) with the 2nd file, but the functions can be enabled (SatPC32 menu ? > Auxiliary Files > DivOptions.SQF).

Of course, everyone is solely responsible for avoiding hardware conflicts.

Hi Vince,

Just tried to run 2 instances of SatPC32.
On the second instance, rotor and cat control are deactivated.
See attached screen shot.
You probably have found this already.
Try GPredict instead of SatPC32.
I can run 2 instances of that without any problems but I haven't tried rotor and cat control.

Hi Terry, & all,

I'm surprised my question hasn't popped up before. I have two
radio's with their own com ports. Radio one is configured in
configuration one, radio two is configured in configuration
two.  And I'm not using Satpc32 for rotator control

I start Satpc32 in configuration one. Start up a second instance of
Satpc32 and switch that instance to configuration two. Radio 2

Separate radios, com ports, and program instances, no shared hardware,
yet only one radio gets controlled. I don't know if Satpc32 has a command
line switch to tell it what configuration to start in so it won't think
there is a conflict if there's another different config instance running.

I just thought of something else I'm going to try.  After I start
the two instances with different configurations,  I'm going to
switch sat mode off on each under the file menu's, and then switch
them both back on again with "C" cat command and see if Satpc32
still thinks there's a conflict.  We all know there is no com port
radio conflict, but the program still might.
