Hi All,
It's not just the US that will be QRV on sats for JOTA - I know of at least two UK stations - GB2GP (Gilwell Park, home of Scouting) and GB4WS (Wiltshire Scouts, a county-wide event for approx. 100 or so young people) - who will be trying to get some contacts in too.
My hope is that the amsat side of things will add an extra 'wow factor' to it, so anyone that happens to share a footprint with Southern or South-Eastern England, please do look out for us and give us a call!
Chances are the majority of the time we'll be looking at SSB/FM voice contacts, especially at GB4WS, as we know we get a lot of people who haven't ever done anything with radio before, and voice is easily understandable whereas CW is much harder for those who don't already know it to understand. We might do the odd demo using skimmer to decode though. We'll also be likely to try some packet decodes, and the funcube data.
Look forward to working as many of you as are in range!
73, and a firm left handshake, John (XLX)

We will be listening as well. I will be with BSA Troop 287 in EM74 at a campout on the 21st. I will be using my call sign.

Jamboree on the Air is this weekend and I am sure there are going to be a number of operators on Satellite in support of various Scout organizations all over North America. If you have not already, find one near you and volunteer your services to introduce our fun and challenging aspect of Amateur Radio to some youngsters (and adult leaders
alike).
Personally I will be in support of Circle Ten Council in Dallas EM12, with a JOTA activation in support of a new branch of BSA called STEM Scouts. Our group will be using borrowed call N5BSA and running a limited schedule from 1500-1900Z on October 21. Look for us and give a shout if you do.
