With windows I have used the package manager to install modules.
In LINUX, I can get away with just copying the module into the right directory and calling it from the script.
example
#!/usr/bin/perl use Net::Telnet;
/usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.10.0/Net/Telnet.pm
What is the project you are trying to accomplish ?
I am be able to help I have played with
SMTP SMNP FTP UDP Serial SOCKET POP GEO MySQL DBI Oracle File operations
etc
