Nice video on the history of satellites on YouTube by Ordinary Things
Here is an entertaining and informative video essay about satellites from past to present, with a good bit of humor, one bit not very safe for work/kids, but otherwise fine:

Apparently there are only about 207 satellites in MEO. I guess it will be hard for another cubesat like IO-117 to hitch a ride to MEO.
The TL;DR opinion of the video essay is that we have already reached Kessler Syndrome. One example they use is a close call between Starlink and the Chinese space station. They say we need international cooperation to avoid things getting out of control.
There was one inaccuracy, but I think it was intentional for humorous effect. It was about the Soviets who died in space. They made it sound like they crash landed, but the landing was fine.

P.S. Related, Scott Manley has done a much more technical series recently on the first satellites, including this one which explains the origin of the Molniya orbit.
