All,
John, K8YSE will be operating FM birds on Friday from Isle Royale. He plans on activating EN58 and possibly EN57. He will be portable and on FM birds only. He said he plans to be back on the road Tuesday and continue his trip.

I'm still learning so forgive the possible dumb question...
I did not hear a peep on the last 2 passes (Sunday 01:30) and the last was a HA pass for the west. Is the bird broken or in eclipse??
Or is the new moxon RX antenna I put up this am a dud ?
Thanks,
Ted K7TRK
Hi Ted,
Glad to hear you are trying to work AO-51 and experimenting.
A good place to check for a recent report of most amateur radio satellites is here: http://oscar.dcarr.org/
It looks like AO-51 has been operational, so you might review your system again. Sometimes it's the little things...other times it's something major!
Best luck and 73,

There is a pretty good pass for me at 00:48, so I'll give it another try....otherwise, I'll make you a good deal on a 440 Moxon turnstile !!!

Just out of curiosity, can you hear AO-27 or any of the other satellites? What are you using for feedline, and how long?

Drew, I only tried the ao51 passes yesterday, but will try some other sats this afternoon. The feed line is Beldin 9913 with the solid conductor. Line is probably a bit less than 50'. Pretty sure that is not an issue as that is the same coax line that was connected to the antenna that I normally use (antenna.us Quadrifilar helix) which has 100+ contacts.
I'm just a Moxon fan and thought the moxi might help the rx issue on my TS 2000. I have either screwed up the phasing lines or some other design issue, as it tests fine on normal fm. It may not be doing the 'circular polarization' thing. My tx is a moxi I built and it works pretty well.
SO 50 is coming so I'll give that one a try
