Why would ANYone prepare more than 150 90-minute presentations (each of mine IS customized for the club/convention to whom I am speaking, with about 24 “slides” being unique to each)?

Are AMSAT Ambassadors in it for the money? (My accountant just shrieked in laughter.)

No … I think I can speak for many AMSAT Ambassadors when I say, we’re in it for THIS:

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I worked a very nice fellow in Oklahoma tonight via the ISS Crossband repeater — my first Satellite QSO.

My equipment is nothing special; just a Yaesu FT-60 HT and handheld Arrow yagi; pretty much the plain vanilla "Bradford Method" -- it really works!

My first couple of attempts at satellite ops were not successful; but tonight It all came together.

Thank you, Clint, you are a wonderful ambassador for satellite ops. Until I saw one of your lectures I never dreamed I could work the satellites with simple, low-cost equipment.

I'm almost embarrassed at how excited I am!

I spoke to Tom’s club - the Coachella Valley ARC - and, as I replied to him, HE HAS THE BUG!

I was just invited to speak to a club who has been around since 1934! And I have two presentations booked for Europe, and another one in Canada.

And more upcoming for 2023. Long live AMSAT!

PPS Before you reply with, “That HT ain’t full-duplex,” please know that every audience hears the phrase - AND explanation of - “It is BEST if we work these easy satellites in true, full-duplex mode … “ at least FIVE TIMES during my shows.
