I see on Universal Radio's web page and the Kenwood webpage that the TS-2000 seems to be no longer in production??I guess I will be looking forward to a replacement next year at Dayton Hamvention. Perry WB8OTH

This could be either very good or very bad news. I talked with the Kenwood rep at the Huntsville Hamfest in August, and as always asked about a replacement for the TS-2000. It is a sort of running joke between us. This year, his reply was "3 years, at least." He explained that due to changes in the commercial radio world that Kenwood was allocating all its engineering resources there for the immediate future. It will be interesting to see whether this is just a temporary production pause, a multiyear lapse in that part of the market, a change in plans, or ???

Maybe Yaesu will finally get the FT9700 in production. Something has held it up for two years now.

Per HRO, it is history. There is not a new unit to be found.

Ted,
Did Ham Radio Outlet report that there was a rush on remaining inventory when the end of production was announced?

Nope. I was watching on line and missed the clue. I was ready to by another (new) unit. Called the Anaheim store to ask about their remaining demo and the guy said it has been a demo for 10 years...I passed on that one. There are a few new ones out there (DXEnginnerring, HamCity, etc.) but they want 1300-1500+, which is absurd.

What would you expect to pay for a new-in-box unit?
I don't recall what these were selling for when still available new.
