Demonstrator Rotator Setup

I have an inquiry from a gentleman who would like to show the "dramatic sight" of a computer-controlled small Yagi tracking a satellite while in a convention booth - but not necessarily a full-blown Yaesu G-5500.
If I am not making sense, just ask ... (grin)
He is thinking 12VDC, laptop, just a six-foot mast with an Arrow-like antenna, Ham Radio Deluxe(?), "smaller" radio like a FT-817ND)?) ...
Brainstorming welcome!
Many thanks.

KI4PSR did a very nice stepper motor version of a tracker.

Look back thru the -BB archives... I seem to recall that, a couple of years ago, someone rigged up a system using an X-10 webcam mount or some such thing. The az-el mount for a small telescope or remote-controlled security camera should work, as well. You just have to be able to switch the motors to go right, left, up, and down, and provide 0 - 5 volts of position feedback to the controller for each axis.

Hi all, Here is a pix of a demo I did in NJ with the LVB tracker attached to a G5500 Yaesu. It isn't that big but it sure is a great attention getter at any hamfest or demo you present. This way you can show the LVB tracker actually being used.. You need more space like outdoors for an arrow attached...-Have a fun "Dramatic Sight!" 73, Dee, NB2F
