This is a little off subject . Need a little help.....
Have been using a FT847 in PSK31 through a Rigblaster plus. The rig Transmits in CW with the paddles and the internal keyer. Also works CW The same without the keyer. When running USB PSK31 through the Rigblaster the rig works without any problems. Taking the PSK31 cabling Off the rig and reattaching the microphone, a MH31 hand mike, I get Nothing out of the rig. I rechecked all menu settings. I rehooked the Rigblaster back up to the FT847 and hooked the MH31 mike to the Ribblaster mike port. In this configuration the radio transmits in Sideband with no problems. On the FT847 Rig will not QSY with the buttons in the MH31 when it is hooked Directly to the FT847 but will function when it is plugged into the Rigblaster. Anybody have any thoughts on this, or prior experience? I Also tested the rig with another MH31 that works well on a FT1000D. Same negative results on the FT847. I also tried using an MD-100 desk Mic that works with the same FT1000D and tried that on the FT847 with Negative results. I hate to tear into this rig without having some Ideas as to what is going on. HELP.

Don,
If I understand correctly, when you hook either of the mics up in the normal fashion, you get no PTT(?), or frequency control, but it works normally through the Rigblaster? Strange, as I have both those mics, and they work as expected with the FT-847.
The fact that you can work normally in all respects(?) though the Rigblaster indicates that the internal FT-847 wiring is probably ok except for the possibility of the control ground. It is on pin 5. This is really reaching, but is there any chance that the control ground is blown? You can check with a VOM. (A spare 8 pin mic plug is a good way to do this, and tends to reduce the likelihood of accidentally shorting a pin, especially the +5 volts on pin 2 which will blow the series resistor at only 100 ma.) These digital interfaces are often pretty cavalier about separating out the two grounds, and the Rigblaster may be providing the needed ground by combining the two. The schematic, or some quality time with the interface and VOM can answer this.
Probably wrong, but it is at least consistent with the symptoms as I understand them.

For unknown reasons my FT-847 was starting to act strangely last week. I was not able to TX on 160 and 80 mtrs. I make a full microprocessor reset on the menu item 39 All init and all functions returned to normal. Probably the microprocessor became corrupted with time?
You can look also at the mic audio pin on the circuit board. I blow up the resistor due to probably to the application of high voltage i never trace where this voltage came from?
Hope you will be able to solve your problem.

Don,
I run a FT-847 with HB interface to my computer soundcard and serial ports for such programs as psk-31, CW-Key5, WSJT, etc. The Tx/RX audio and PTT connects thru the DATA jack on the back while CW program keys the CW jack. The PTT line on DATA disconnects the front mic audio path, but only when the DATA PTT-line is energized. The front mic works normally. I never unplug anything to switch between software modes and normal voice modes.
It occurred that maybe there is a menu function involved, but I have never encountered your problem. I suspect you will need to test the voltages on the radio mic jack to see if all is normal. You really need to have the Yaesu service manual for thorough troubleshooting. I bought one from Yaesu after market.

Hi Don,
As it can be read on the FT-847 manual, the PTT control connected to the DATA connector inhibits the mic. Maybe can this be the reason of your mic failure?
