Hi, all Getting into sats and I've been poking around for software (windows). Seems like most are using SATPC32, is that the go-to tracking program? Any others that I should also consider? How about logging software, any favorites for sats? I've been using DXLab, (great for DX, not so much for sats.) Used to use LOGic, may try to configure it for satellite logging. In any event, want to use whatever I end up with just for sats and dump their logs into DXLab (hold complete station logs). Also, how about grid square chasing? I see paper (printed) grid maps for US, abut anything for windows? Found "WorkedGrids_v7, but seems to be for terrestrial, not sats. Would like something that could show current worked/confirmed grids other than on paper. Again. any ideas? Thanks -- Lee

Gpredict has a Windows version.

I created a database for my contacts. I make audio recordings of the passes that I'm on and play them back later in order to enter the details, including grid squares. I use that same database for preparing my LOTW files.
Using a database makes it easy for me to check for a given station or grid square that I might have worked before as I can search for specific terms, such as callsigns.
If you have a database program, this might be worth considering as you can set it up the way you want it and you don't have to buy another software package.

What database do you use? I think of SQL servers/databases when you say "database," but they require software interfaces, so I'm wondering, if you mean an SQL server/DB, what interface do you use?

I'm using Filemaker right now on my iMac. It's easy to set up and run.
I've also got machines that run FreeBSD and they can use LibreOffice, which I haven't installed yet. LO has a database component as well.

Ah gotcha. I have heard good things about Filemaker.

I have a preference for it myself. Unfortunately, it's not available for Linux or FreeBSD.

To get started quickly try Orbitron for tracking. Some believe SatPC32 is harder to setup than Orbitron, which is no longer updated, but more simple.
