Really? Dual-receive, indeed. And will perform crossband repeating. But I can transmit on one band and simultaneously hear myself on another with a FT-8800?
How else would it be able to cross band repeat? Page three of the manual:
"Featuring 1054 memory channels (527 channels each for "Main" and "Sub" band), full duplex operation with independent Volume and Squelch controls, and built-in CTCSS and DCS encoder/decoder circuits, ..."

That's correct Clint And also being full duplex with ability to hear the sat downlink doesn't mean it has the ability to crossband repeat also Howard VE4ISP

Again, incorrect. Think about it for a second. In order for a radio to receive a signal on one band and simultaneously repeat it on another (the meaning of cross band repeat), it has to be capable of full duplex operation. I challenge both of you to find an example that will cross band repeat but isn't full duplex.
I think maybe you are confusing cross band repeat with cross band split capable.

I have obviously been successfully working the FM birds with 1-to-4W handheld radios too long ... (grin). I am going to pull out my FT-8800 - check Menu Set Item 24 - and program it for a couple upcoming passes.

Yes but To use the rig as a cross band repeater is a different story. To input on VHF and retransmit on UHF is crossband repeat Using the rig as a repeater. I have an HT that is full duplex but is unable to crossband repeat(rebroadcast on another band) Am I correct in my statements I hope so Howard VE4ISP

I've added a lot of Alinco radios, a few HT's and a base rig. Hopefully this is complete.
Now the fun begins. Adding the "tone/no tone" column :-). I'll probably spend a couple hours on Universal Radio's website when school gets out trying to find that info.

It's too late for me now, for this trip, but how many of these radios can be set up so that one tuning knob can change both the VHF and UHF frequencies? My IC-W31 separates VHF and UHF so two knobs are necessary. Three of my Yaesu transceivers can store VHF and UHF freqencies in one memory location, but they're not full-duplex.
Are any of these HT's or mobile rigs computer controllable so Doppler correction can be done that way?

Doug,
Very interesting and useful list. As the owner of an Alinco DJ-G7 I would comment that while it technically is a full duplex rig, it has proved marginal at best, and unsatisfactory really, as a satellite rig due to deficiencies in performance.
Alan WA4SCA
But the ability to crossband repeat doesn't automatically mean that a radio can monitor a satellite's downlink while transmitting to it ....
Of course it does. The radio must be able to receive on one band while transmitting on another in order to cross band repeat, which is the same functionality we want for satellite. All cross band repeat capable rigs are by nature full duplex. However, not all full duplex rigs will cross band repeat.
73, Drew KO4MA
And being able to tune each band independently whilst transmitting isn't something many of them can do.
