Historical Space Tour on the Thursday before Orlando Hamcation
In the past, tours through Kennedy Space Center accessed historical space sites from the youth of many AMSAT members, including the Mercury launches and early uncrewed missions. Sadly, the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Center stopped offering these tours a few years ago, and I think the two tours they still offer stay on KSC rather than venturing onto Canaveral.
I have arranged for a Canaveral tour on the Thursday before Orlando Hamcation at 10 AM through 2 PM, lunch or snacks will be offered between the sites. Only 9 people can be accomodated, US Citizens only and there will be a _required_ ID process before the tour, cost will be about $60 each, so reserve your spot now via email to bruce@perens.com .
We will go to: * LC-26, LC-5, and LC-6: the (adjacent) launch sites for much early space exploration including the first crewed flights of Alan Shepard and Gus Grissom. Besides walking around the pads and seeing a number of historical space exhibits there, you will be able to access the firing room and the Space Force Missile Museum.
* Hangar C, where there are many restored historical space vehicles and missiles, and the Canaveral lighthouse.
We will _not_ have access to the Mercury Memorial, LC-14 (restored uncrewed flights firing room), and LC-34 (mostly-torn-down site of the Apollo 1 fire), which were (at times) on the old Rise to Space tour. This is probably why Delaware North, operator of the KSC Visitor Center and its tours, no longer offers this tour.
Activity on the base can force us to cancel or can change or curtail the itinerary. You may wish to tip the guide/driver, but that's up to you and not required.
You may, in addition, wish to visit Kennedy Space Center and their exhibits, and the two tours they still offer; and the Sands Space History Center, which is just before the entrance to Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
