Re: [amsat-bb] SatPC32 - need help with configuration of Doppler.SQX file
I was just advised that, contrary to the RS-44 line in the JE9PEL file, it should be REV rather than NOR. If so, that would explain a lot. 73, Bill NZ5N On Monday, November 30, 2020, 02:10:53 PM EST, Bill Dzurilla billdz.geo@yahoo.com wrote:
Hello, Does anyone have any tips for proper configuration of the Doppler.SQX file on SatPC32? I'm having a hard time getting it correct for RS-44. I started with the standard line from JE9PEL: RS-44 (DOSAAF-85),435640,145965,USB,LSB,NOR,0,0,SSB When I heard the sat, I started clicking the Uplink Calibration buttons in the CAT Control window until my voice sounded natural. It was pretty far off, something like 8800hz. To save, I clicked on Change/Store Data File and then clicked RX/TX Freq. Data. I thought this was all I needed to do, but on the next pass my TX and RX were again out of sync. On every pass, I need to start over, and each time the uplink frequency is several thousand hertz off. My current line is: RS-44 (DOSAAF-85),435631.85,145970.86,USB,LSB,NOR,0,0,SSB What am I doing wrong? Thanks and 73, Bill NZ5N
Delete the (DOSAFF-85) part
Here are my 2. I have the Beacon first so that the receiver is on the Beacon when I first go there.
The 2nd one puts the radio in the middle of the passband with my adjustments. You may have to fine tune your uplink.

Thanks to all for the replies. I am in Slovakia, JN88, until 14 December, so if I can get this sorted I can hopefully give out a few transatlantic QSOs on AO-7 and RS-44 (from this QTH, I once once held the AO-7 record for longest QSO, with KC0RA in Iowa). Two other quick questions: 1) What is the best source for the latest Doppler.SQF file? The JE9PEL file linked on the AMSAT UK website (https://amsat-uk.org/satellites/satpc32-doppler-sqf-file/) is not accurate. In addition to incorrectly showing RS-44 as NOR, it also is incorrect for CAS-4A and CAS-4B, and perhaps others. 2) Any tips for fine tuning the frequencies on SatPC32? I was very active on the sats about 10 years ago, and I recall it being an easy process, just click the Uplink Calibration buttons in the CAT Control window while TXing until the voice sounds natural, then save by clicking Change/Store Data File and then RX/TX Freq. Data. Am I forgetting something? Seems to require recalibration on every new pass, in was not like that 10 years ago. 73, Bill NZ5N/OM3BD

Hi Bill, Use REV in Doppler.SQF for all linear satellites, as all of these satellites have a reverse frequency pattern (the only exception I know of is AO-07 Mode A, Mode B works reverse). The parameter decides whether SatPC32 changes the uplink frequency in the same direction (NOR) or in the opposite direction (REV) when you change the downlink frequency. The parameter has no influence on the setting of REV / NOR on the radios, i.e. it does not change the setting. I described this in the notes at the end of Doppler.SQF.

Many thanks Erich and Mineo for the corrected files! All working for me now, thanks to all. Heard several N. American stations today on RS-44. It seems I had two separate problems: 1) the incorrect NOR in the Doppler.SQF file, and 2) I was clicking on RX/TX Freq. Data instead of Uplink Calibration, as pointed out by George KA3HSW. 73, cu on RS-44 and AO-7,Bill OM3BD/NZ5N On Wednesday, December 2, 2020, 09:18:29 AM EST, Erich Eichmann erich.eichmann@t-online.de wrote:
