So here we are again, Amsat shows the ISS in the right spot but the keps it gives out for automatic updates are around 6 minutes off again. I know about the boosting and why they are off, just dont ubderstand WHY they are good on the online tracker and not anything else?

I'm only guessing--but---I bet that online tracker is using keps updated daily (from Celestrak or SpaceTrack), while the posted keps for downloading are only posted once a week or so.

The NASA.ALL Keps are issued and updated weekly, normally Friday, as they have been for literally decades. The on line tracker widget gets Keps directly, and so will be as up to date as Celestrak and Space Track. Two different systems, and purposes, which is why there is a difference.
You will see a similar situation with ARISSat-1 as it slowly descends. Which is a good chance to get another plug in for the Chicken Little Contest.

I think there may be something more to this. You're saying celestrak keps are as correct and up to date as the online tracker. However, both HRD and SatPC were wrong for me last night and I know HRD uses celestrak keps, which I know were less than 12 hours old, if not only a couple hours old.
If it helps to decode this mystery, I know my friend running NOVA had the correct info for the ISS pass last night.

Tim,
The font of all Keplerian knowledge, except for some of the satellites which do not have their's published for security or other matters, is Space Track. Space Track feeds Celestrak. There can be a few hours lag as the updates propogate through the systems, and software updates. Usually no more than 6-8m hours. Both SATPC32 and HRD used Celestrak Keps, but they can, and do, use the NASA.ALL Keps. It depends on how you have them configured. No mystery, really.

Starting to put my satellite system back on the air. Now having another rotor problem. I think what happened is that after Hurricane Irene passed by, everything was working. Later that morning a surprisingly strong wind gust after Irene passed by blew my sat array over. I was unaware of this and when I tried to work a sat I had a very weak signal. I went outside to check the antenna system and found it laying on the ground. So what I think happened is that the rotor was trying to turn while the antenna was on the ground and burned out something in the rotor. It is not a cable problem, it is definitely in the azimuth rotor, elevation works fine. I swap cables and this showed the problem is in the az rotor only. Anyone have this same problem? I'm going to take the rotor apart this weekend and would like some ideas before I start. Any electrical test through the cable from inside the shack to determine the problem would be much appreciated :-)

Jeff,
I burned up my 5400 azimuth motor twice while I had it and it was fairly easy to disassemble the rotor housing and the motor casing. The motors in the 5500 are very similar to those in the 5400 I used to have. The only difference I noticed was the diameter of the motor shaft.
I had found the PCB leads on the back of the motor were completely fried and blackened as well as the insulation on the leads were melted. With some creativity one can repair it. If I remember correctly, a replacement 5500 motor from Yaesu was in the $130 price range and it only took be about 30 minutes to replace it.
The trickiest part was disassembling the rotor in such a way that the bearings don't fall out. :)

Ok I started working the problem tonight. I would first like to thank, Al Wa4sca, Stan W1le, and Jeff N3qo, for some ideas on what the problem might be. What I found so far is an open between 4 5 and 6. Any combination of the three is open. So I'm assuming I burned out the motor windings in the azimuth rotor to cause an open. I'm also assuming as the rotor is less than 3 years old that it doesn't have a fused link? I went through my parts bin and found a working Yaesu G-450 rotor. I wonder if the 450 and the 5500 azimuth rotor use the same motor, did anyone try this?

My 5500 has had a 450 motor in it for about 8 years :)
It was cheaper to buy a used rotor than the motor from yaesu parts.
