I remember someone I knew while I was in elementary school who, each time there was a launch (which were all televised back then), was conveniently sick on those days.

This mission I definitely remember as it was news here in Canada. I was able to watch coverage of it on TV as I happened to miss school that day because I was ill (no, I didn't plan it that way, hi).
