Hi John
I have a FT300M in my movil station for years. It works great with FM sats with 1/4 whip on the roof. You will only need a headset if you want to work in full-duplex, although in half-duplex also works fine beacuse of its high power, near of 70 Watts.
But I enjoy receiving with a UHF hand held HT and a CJU antenna attached to it and using the FT3000M with a 1/4 whip antenna to uplink.

Has anyone on the list used a Yaesu FT3000M on the Mode J FM sats? Does it have pretty good receive sensitivity for the birds? Can it do full duplex, where you can hear your own downlink? What I have seen written about it seems to indicate that it can. Any other comments-good or bad-about this model?
