Re: Is it time for AMSAT to adopt a code of conduct?
A few things....
One, it is a shame that an entire thread has been dedicated to this topic due to one posters comment followed by a few unnecessary political comments. Like amateur radio, the general acceptable "rule" should follow here and that is to keep politics out of the conversation -period-. There is no need to stir up such a topic and should really never result in what has lead up to now in this forum.
Just post some "rules"/guide lines, deal with the ones that stirred up the hornets nest and move on.
Two, I and a bunch of others are here to learn about what is going on with satellites, the new ones and the old ones and learn how everyone else is working those birds. That's IT, nothing more.
I've been able to follow scheds of the old TEVEL birds, follow the launch and setup of the new birds thanks to the email forum. I and perhaps others do not have the time to log into a website, look at the post and whatever else. The email list makes getting the notifications fast and easy. Being able to read or not read emails on various topics using this method is faster and easier.
I vote for keeping the email list and enough of over complicating the rules and guidelines of the forum and enough beating a dead horse already.
Myself, like many others are here for AMSAT related "stuff", not this. If -this- continues, I will simply unsubscribe and not be back to this list or whatever is created afterwards.
Remember, we're all radio amateurs looking to have fun, experiment and communicate. We are not here to squabble like a bunch of old ladies in a bingo hall.

Thanks for providing the direct link. To remind the list subscribers, the AUP is mentioned in the footer of every email, with a link to the AMSAT webpage where the AUP document (and others) is listed and available for download. It’s a bit wordy but does give reasonable insight on what is and isn’t acceptable on this list.
Personally. I’m old school (and just old ;) ) and like the email list. Heh.

I have seen limits and "demands" in groups like this cause splintering of the group. The result is a splitting of the people and knowledge. Folks in the middle tend to then have to join multiple groups in order to still have access to ALL of the knowledge. Sounds like a split in the local ham club(s).
I agree politics doesn't belong generally in ham radio and many Hams are not interested in politics of the USA.
However, I do know how to filter my emails and use the delete key. This seems the best route to me in order to accommodate everyone.
