HI all,
There is going to be another QSO Today Virtual Ham Expo on the weekend of March1 3th and 14th, 2021. There was not much of an AMSAT/Amateur Radio in Space presence at the previous event this past August except for my “Getting Started” presentation. This time out, it appears there will be a number of good presentations relating to satellite communications, and it looks very likely that we will get an AMSAT “Track”.
For this coming event, a virtual exhibit hall booth has been procured by generous AMSAT supporter. The booth will allow for Expo attendees to interact with representatives via text chat and hopefully even audio and video as well, plus the ability to have virtual handouts and even links to more information and sales of AMSAT merchandise.
I am seeking volunteers who will be willing to give of some of that weekend in March to be available to man the booth and interact with attendees. Since the Exhibit Hall area will be open from Friday evening through early Sunday evening (North American Time), it will be helpful if we could get booth workers for all 48 hours or so of the event. The booth space purchased will allow for up to six simultaneous representatives, but can still function with it’s embedded links even if unmanned. Having people available though to answer questions and point people toward memberships will be very important. Thus, we need YOU!
I put this out on the general AMSAT-BB a week or so ago and only got a few responses. The Ambassadors program is built to represent the organization for Hamfest opportunities, so I am hoping that many of you on this list will step up to put a good showing for the organization.
Please do contact me off list at n5hyp@arrl.net mailto:n5hyp@arrl.net , tjschuessler@verizon.net mailto:tjschuessler@verizon.net or n5hyp@amsat.org mailto:n5hyp@amsat.org and let me know of your interest. I know that this is about 3 months off and so you may not be sure what you will be doing that far out. If you can now commit, that would be very helpful in planning and scheduling. Let me know if there are specific times of the day that would work better than others or if there are any of the two days that won’t work at all. I am compiling a list and will be in contact with all interested parties very soon. I will also be making this plea again in a month or so.
Hoping you will join us at the next QSO Today Virtual Ham Expo on March 13th and 14 to represent Amateur Radio in Space.
