My free version runs great, booting up as it should on both XP & 7. Never tried 8, and don't plan too. Doug K4GKJ

This is normal for HRD. Especially the free. I can't vouch for the newest versions that require purchase. The then developers of HRD were notified of this and the intent was to separate its operation from the the main portion of HRD. They never had a chance prior to its being sold.
Again, I can't vouch for the newest bought version. Hence, the reason you see most people using SatPC32, and others. I have noticed this problem on every version of Windows I have run, from ME to Windows 8 including different machine speeds and types.

I am running the free version of HRD and of late have been experiencing a strange problem. The program runs but initializes extremely slowly. It takes at least 4 minutes to begin working. I am just using the satellite tracking portion of the software. The machine here runs Windows8.1 with all the updates. There isn't a virus or spyware problem according to my diagnostic software. All other programs perform normally. I have made sure that no other extraneous programs are running. Can anyone shed light on this unusual situation?

HRD runs fine. It's not until you try to implement the satellite tracking portion. I still use HRD here for HF, etc, but not for satellite tracking.

I know that Rick is very interested in getting the satellite portion of HRD more widely used, and has been upgrading some of the functions and general compatibility "under the hood." If you are a paid subscriber, be sure to let them know of any issues. Right now they are working on a public beta, and can use the input. Understandably, the old versions are not actively supported.

For additional clarification, the free version I am running (the last one I think) is Version v build 2893.
