Can anyone share experiences using IC-92AD on the birds?
I have used the IC-92AD for AO-51. It worked fine.
I programmed 5 memories into the "A BAND" (downlink), of course they are all set to FM (not DV). 435.310 435.305 435.300 435.295 435.290
I programmed one memory into the "B BAND" (uplink), set to FM (not DV). 145.920
You can label each memory accordingly to reduce confusion.
To compensate for Doppler you change A Band memories for best receive. When you want to transmit you need to momentarily press "MAIN DUAL" to ensure that the B BAND is active where 145.920 is selected.
Set the A Band squelch open and the B band squelch to max or above the noise threshold.
It worked very well on AO-51 and I am sure it will work just as well on the other FM birds. On SO-50 I would program two memories for the uplink (with both PL tones). One with 67.0 Hz and another with 74.4 Hz.
