We are looking for as many D72 owners that live within a few hours of Mammoth Cave, KY to join in a significant cave-radio experiment on 2-3 March 2013 to demonstrate VHF/UHF cave radio “texting” and status reporting. The D72’s can automatically relay position and text data up to 7 or 14 hops from radio to radio. We want to see how well this technique can be used in caves.

The date corresponds to the annual Cave City hamfest and is a good excuse to come play. We have the support of the National Park service to conduct this first ever cave-radio-relay experiment.
