Re: [amsat-bb] TH-D72A through ISS digipeater?
Should be doable. remember to set the APRS path to ARISS.
menu->APRS -> PacketPath -> Type -> Others -> path : ARISS (menu 3H1) Once entered press the Mhz Button and you should see an asterisk by "Others"
With this you can switch back and forth between the new paradigm and ISS without having to enter it each time you switch. You can also append W3ADo-3 for No-44 and W3ADO-5 for NO-84. Separate them with a comma.
frequency is 145.85.

I just got this HT yesterday and was wondering if you can digipeat through the ISS with it. If so how easy? I've been playing with the APRS on 144.39 and even managed to send a few messages back and forth with someone. There's a good ISS pass tomorrow at 6am local and I'm excited to try it but I don't have time to read the manual and read online to figure it all out, and don't want to do it wrong.

Just a slight correction - the frequency is 145.825. W3ADO-1 is necessary for NO-44 in it's current condition, but NO-84 should respond to ARISS, PSAT, or APRSAT when the digipeater is on.

I use RS0ISS. What's the difference between RS0ISS and ARISS.

I was under the impression that we were voluntarily not digipeating through NO-44 due to the problem it causes over Great Britain, switching over to the North American terrestrial APRS frequency under certain conditions. GB and Europe don't use the same terrestrial APRS frequency so the satellite causes interference with other two meter operations. Has that changed?

Hey all, thanks to a nice email from Patrick Stoddard and the others, and actually reading the manual way past my bed time, I managed to digipeat through the ISS this morning. I actually planned on just RXing to be safe but while my screen showed the info of a station repeatedly beaconing I clicked a random button on my radio to clear the display and it happened to be my beacon button! it was quickly digipeated back by RS0ISS. I can see it on ariss.net now.

Very cool! Now to get a QSO. I might have to get a friend to track and hold the antenna while I type very slowly T9word style like on the old cell phones.

Correct. Do not use it anywhere near Europe. Bob, WB4APR
