Also have to point out their network setup to track and logging of various satellites. https://satnogs.org/ Their is a whole network of home brew network stations setup that record the pass and post audio and water fall of the pass for that stations location. It is a lot of fun to check out ground station recording to see if our signal is heard. And they also have decoders for various modes and telemetry.
You can get started with a simple no rotor station with a raspberry pi and a SDR Dongle. I like the rotor project because the aluminum extrusion material is readily available and the 3D printed parts can be easily replaced when necessary.
