Has anyone thought of trying something like Kickstarter to help fund a linear LEO at least? Like the guy and the cold butter knife, got on there wanting 40 grand to make it, he has 1/4 million and still counting! Joe WB9SBD

Joe,
You put down the FM birds, but when was the last time you were on any of the satellites? I have just over 4000 QSOs in the log dating back to March 2008 and I've never heard you.

As Bryce suggested, Fox-1C has an active crowdsourcing campaign.
There are several linear LEOs in the pipeline (two in orbit awaiting activation for amateur use, several others in various stages).
In orbit, awaiting activation for amateur use: EO-79 (QB50p1) UKube-1
Essentially complete, awaiting launch opportunity: KiwiSat
Also in the pipeline: CAS-2A1 CAS-2A2
I know there are other projects in various planning stages too.
The Fox-2 program, which will commence once the Fox-1 series satellites are completed, will also have linear transponder capability through it's software defined transponder. I'm sure crowdsourcing will be used again when the time comes. The best way to support Fox-2 right now is to help it's predecessors get into orbit!
