Hello everyone,
we have noticed, during EU passes, that UKUBE-1 starts trasmitting noise every 2-3 minutes. Looks like a spurious signal saturating and covering about half of the passband.
Any idea ?

I have observed the same behavior on passes over South America. The transponder passband singal is as strong as the FunCube BPSK beacon.

The cause is the primary transceiver onboard the satellite transmitting it's beacon signal and overloading the receiver on the FUNcube-2 transponder.

The satellite's primary beacon causes many signals to disappear on the transponder when it is active. If you adjust your power, you can sometimes overcome it. :-) When the primary satellite beacon stops, the transponder will resume normal performance.
It is fun to play a game and see when it catches you. Sometimes you get caught in the middle of QSO or calling CQ.
I enjoy working UKube-1 because it is very strong. It is getting a fair amount of users over the USA.
