Returning to Satellite Operating
I've been away from satellite ops for a long time. I want to start up again but need information. What birds are currently operational? My primary interest is voice/CW but some of the digital modes are intriguing. What software packages are available free or at least cheaply for Windows 10? I used to use SatScape but that stopped working after a Windows upgrade. Any recommendations are welcome! 73 de W0HV, Jim in Raymore, MO
Jim,Check the amsat web page for the currently operating satellites, FM,Linea and digital. Most folks use SatPC32 for windows. It is $55.00 through AMSAT, Proceeds are donated b the author to AMSAT. It is available as a demo that is fully functional. As long as yo don't mind entering your lat/long eachtime you start it. You can use it for free. There are several apps fo phone tracking as well.. my favorite is ISS detector. Available for both ios & Droid. The amateur sa extension costs $1.99. Look4sat is another good one for Droid and there is always Amsatdrodfree.Hope this helps. GPredict and Orbitron are both free and still operational software packages.
