I'm having a strange problem with my old 5400. Suddenly the AZ control just freezes. Manual or automated control is not possible. If I turn the control box off for a short time ad then back on both manual and auto control returns and it works fine until the cycle starts again and it freezes. Very frustrating!

High, I had a g5500 which did exactly this. Turned out to be rusted and shattered bearings. How on earth SS Balls go rusty I have no idea.

Been a long time since I've been in my 5400, but I THINK there's a temperature cutoff taped to the windings of the azimuth motor. You might want to check for some external interference. (You DON'T want to know how I learned this . . .) Or worse, failing bearings . . . or an off-center load, putting excess asymmetrical load on the bearings.
