I have an original VC-H1, never even opened it. I did not buy the cable to hook it to my D7a, 700 or 710 (possible?) when available. Is there anywhere to get the cables now? I want to try and copy ISS SSTV with it.

The only place I've seen them in the last couple of years has been on eBay, and man, are they EXPEN$IVE! The last ones I saw went for $80. 73, Jim KQ6EA

Mike,
If you don't have a software solution May I suggest MM-SSTV (Windows app)? It is free and very simple to use, all you need is a soundcard interface between the radio and your PC.

Hi All,
You should have received a cable with the VC-H1 that has two plugs. This will work with the TH-D7 HT. The unit will operate in Robot 36 and the fast FM mode with this cable. The cable supplied with the unit used the same jacks as the earphone and external microphone on the TH-D7a. It also fit some other Kenwood HTs. The cable that was sold by Kenwood has three (3) jacks. In addition to the microphone and earphone jacks it also connected to the 1200 baud modem I/O jack. This port controlled selection of the other SSTV modes, color of data (your call, SSTV signal report, CQ, etc....) that was superimposed on the transmitted screen and some other features (remote command to send image, timed transmission of image). That cable sold for $50 new at the time Kenwood sold the units. You might check Kenwood parts to see if they have it.
As it stands now, the unit you have should work with the ISS transmissions. By the way, the unit will detect and lock to anyof the SSTV modes without the special data / SSTV cable. Hope this info helps.
