Alas, my search is back on again for a service manual (not the instruction manual, which does have some technical info, but is not comprehensive) for the Icom IC-471A. I do have the instruction manual, as well as a schematic. Thanks again to all who helped previously, and thanks in advance for anyone who can help put me back on the trail.

Rich, I'm hoping this is wrong, but I was talking with another ham who had lots of Icom stuff and he said that there never was a service manual for the 471--something about Icom running out of time, etc, and that the 271 would be a general guide to the 471.
I've collected just about all the service manuals for all my Icom gear plus that of friends, and I have never seen 471 service stuff. Ever since hearing the bad news I've idly looked about.
Perhaps you can prove this wrong in your further searches. If you do find it, please let folks know.

That thought has crossed my mind (that one never existsed)- I heard or read somewhere that there was once a service manual that covered both the 271 and 471, but I've never seen it. Will keep looking though. Thanks!

Hi Alan,
I have some questions regarding HO-68..
Would it be possible to reschedule HO-68 for Australia and New Zealand at more appropriate times around the 22:00UTC passes ?
Its currently not operating , in our corner of the world, around the 22:00UTC timeframe, that is morning for us, and it would be nice to be able to use it during daylight hours. The current times are near 10pm at night for us or midnight+ for New Zealand !
Also, why does it need a schedule, is there not enough power to operate 24/7 ?
thanks
Tim

Hi Alan, BA1DU
The path: South America,NA,North Asia of the above orbit 12 Jan 2010 of HO-68 linear transponder is wrong because the satellite covers instead Africa and Europe.
This is why a lot of users following your schedule missed a very interesting orbit with very high elevation over Europe.
I suggest you to remove the path of the satellite over the continents and live only the time and the mode of operation as follows:
12 Jan. 2010 Linear Tansponder 19:20...Turn On 20:05...Turn Off
Doing this way every one will be obliged to check every orbit and see if it covers it's foot print or not.
In addition I suggest to schedule HO-68 one week only FM and Digital Transponder and one week only Linear Transponder.
This will simplify the job for you and for all satellite users giving to everyone the maximum capability to work every possible orbit in the preferred mode.
In the mean time and for the future I will not take any more in account the path of HO-68 that you states over the continents because it is already two time that I found it to be in mistake.
The last time the following orbit was also in mistake because I found that it was not covering Europe.
07 Jan. 2010 HO-68 Linear Tansponder 21:45...Turn On South Africa,Europe,Middle East Asia,NA,North Pole,North Asia 22:30...Turn Off
Tank you for your cooperation.
