[amsat-bb] Delfi-C3 (DO-64) – 4 years in orbit
Hi Trevor, M5AKA
Delfi-C3 was not of interest for the Satellite Amateur Radio community because it performed mainly technology demonstration experiments for the space industry in the Netherlands and not for our use.

Hi Domenico,
I am sorry to tell you but you are so wrong! So very wrong indeed!
The satellite amateur radio community was a significant part of Delfi-C3 from the very beginning. First of all many of the Delfi-C# team are ham radio operators in case you don't know. Secondly, our community did assist in key telemetry and science experiment data gathering and you should check sometimes the many ham operators around the world that helped in this and thirdly the on-board transponder was a key challenge to many of us and allowed for some very unique and rare QSOs. Too bad that you did not participate and obviously totally ignored one good satellite. Delfi-C3 is one great CubeSat success story and many of us a re looking forward to the next one.

Hi Stefan,VE4NSA
If I am so wrong! So very wrong indeed I have to tell you that AMSAT-UK is also very wrong indeed with me !
Read please the following page:
and you will realize that this 3-unit CubeSat, developed by the Technical University of Delft in the Netherlands has been largely developed by students and performed technology demonstration experiments for the space industry in the Netherlands..........."FOR THE SPACE INDUSTRY in the Netherland"....... right, but very very small for the Satellite Amateur Radio".

Really !
I managed to make a 2 way QSO through the amateur radio transponder.

Hi Domenico (and others)
Delphi-C3 was the exception to the rule, the satellite was build by students that where also radio amateurs and when the science missions where done they gave us a transponder. Unfortunately we couldn't use it for a long period because of problems with the uplink circuit.
I also made a couple of 2 way QSO's via DO-64 transponder.
I hope Delfi-n3xt will also have a transponder that will be available for a longer time.

I find it incredible that anyone could cast doubt on the fact that Delfi-C3 (DO-64) is an amateur radio satellite.
Did they apply for IARU frequency coordination ? - a process that sets critera on what is or is not an amateur radio satellite - Yes they did. DO-64 was not only coordinated by IARU but they also applied for an OSCAR number which was granted.
Did the owners of ARISSat-1 apply for IARU frequency coordination or an OSCAR number - No they did not.
Now DO-64's linear transponder may sadly have ceased operation but as I recall it still lasted longer and carried more QSO's than ARISSat-1's transponder.
I'd suggest that those who do not regard DO-64 as an Amateur Radio satellite cannot consider ARISSat-1 to be one either.

Hello,
Can any one tell me what's the currently active telemetry frequency for DO-64, and confirm me if the transmition is in Upper Side Band? I recently download the RASCAL telemetry software and wish to give it a try. Is there a transmission shedule or is it transmitting continuosly.
Thanks,

Raydel, CM2ESP Havana, EL83sc

Hi Raydel, CM2ESP
DO-64 Delfi-C3 Catalog number: 32789 Launch Date: April 28, 2008 0354z Launch site: Satish Dhawan Space Centre, India
Status: Operational Current Mode: Science Mode - Beacon ONLY
Telemetry: 145.870 MHz
Delfi-C3 is actually performing technology demonstration experiments not for the Radio Amateur Service but "only for the interest "of the space industry in the Netherlands. Your job collecting telemetry from DO-64 using your own equipments doesn't pay much, but the benefits for the space industry in the Netherlands are good at no cost.
Have fun !

Hi Domenico,
We will have fun collecting telemetry, learning about the condition of the satellite and so much more and providing a useful service to the same community that allows us in the first place to launch this and many other satellites and use its transponder, the "space industry".
All the best,
Stefan, VE4NSA

Yes - it was/is also a radio amateur satellite. I made 8 QSO,s on it all in all in July and August 2008:-) As Jan points out it was not active for a long period of time. 73 OZ1MY/Ib
