Does anyone use HRD Logbook for logging sat contacts? There does not seem to be a seamless way to upload to loTW from that logging program.I personally use AC Log and modify the program for sat contacts by setting up the required fields per LoTW specifications. It works great and have had no problems at all with it. HRD Logbook does not seem to have a way to modify the required fields for LoTW upload that will satisfy LoTW requirements. I have a friend using HRD for this and he cannot upload his contacts, except by manually uploading them from the LoTW "create adif file" in TQSL. Any info would be helpful. Jerry KJ4EU
Hi Jerry, the HRD logbook will work fine for upload to LOTW. There are just a couple of steps needed....
First, make sure you have a field in your log for 'Satellite Name'....hit the 'Layout' button and add it where you want.
Second, when you complete the qso, hit the 'add' button and HRD will bring in all the frequencies, etc.
Third, in 'Logbook', click on that entry and you will see a new window. At the top, click the 'Show' tab and select tabs or click all the boxes..
Fourth, you should now see a line of tabs at the bottom of the modify window. 2 of these tabs are important to complete the correct log for LOTW. 1. the 'Ant/Sat' tab. Fill in the exact sat name, as it is known by amsat, norad, etc. (i.e AO-92...not ao92 or AO92) in the "mode' drop down, select FM or SSB or whatever you worked 2. Click the 'Propagation' tab...in the 'propagation mode' drop down, select 'Satellite'
Fifth, click the 'Update' button and all should be good in your log. If you have a QRZ xml subscription, you can click the 'Update' tab and it will bring in more info from your contact NOTE: if the contact is roving or in a different grid than his callbook address, you will need to add the correct grid in the 'Modify' window
Lastly, if you have set up the LOTW Upload tab in HRD, you can click an entry, click the 'LOTW Upload' tab and it will be sent to LOTW. Or you can export an HRD log to an adif file and upload that way to LOTW.
FYI, lots of HRD bashers on this list, but the above steps work just fine...
