I am finally getting around to mounting some antenna's in the attic and was wondering if I should set up my ADIC 3731 with corner antenna? The roof does not have any insulation and as far as I can see only asphalt type roofing shingles over wood. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! 73 Peter KD0AA
Peter, You will find some attenuation of signal and the noise figure of your LNA will be close to 290 degrees K. How about a glass skylight if your antenna needs to be indoors?

Hi Peter,
I think you will be disappointed with the results. The fluffy oak trees near my house are practically opaque to 2.4 ghz signals, so I imagine that a solid roof will be even worse. If there is space between the wood strips (vs a solid wood decking), you might have some luck going just through the asphalt. Water one thing that kills microwave signals, and wood is always wet. (Concrete is another signal killer, in case that is another option...)
