FYI.from LoTW site:
"Jan 13, 2011: VUCC award support is now live -- Under the Awards tab you will find a VUCC button. The VUCC http://www.arrl.org/vucc is ARRL's award recognizing VHF, UHF, and SHF work and counts Maidenhead grid squares."
Is this a good thing or ??? do we need to set up anything different in an HRD Logbook to make this work ?? questions, questions..

Boy, after playing with this on LOTW, we may need an 'owners manual'. I created a 'VUCC Satellite' account and uploaded my entire HRD Logbook:
Prior to the upload, I added a 'propagation' field to the log and did a bulk edit to add 'sat' to each FM contact in my log (you can choose another field to search, but since I don't log anything on FM other than the sats that works for me).
Uploaded the log to LOTW. Nothing shows under the 'VUCC Satellite' account. (note: when I created just a pure VUCC account, several contacts showed up as FM contacts)
So, Im guessing we need to find out which ADIF fields are necessary in a log upload to make the LOTW happy...
THAT is above my pay grade, so I hope to see some good answers from the group when I wake up tomorrow..

Hi Ted, I am not sure but I believe you have to have the SAT name as well. This you can edit in the TQSL program if you need to.

Hi Ted and all,
I got the LoTW VUCC set up without a problem. I had already uploaded 545 satellite QSOs over the past couple of years so they were waiting to be used. Well, after getting everything in order I have a grand total of.....21 matches, or 3.85% of my satellite log. With LoTW VUCC now active it will hopefully get those with electronic logging to upload their satellite QSO's, even better, to get those with paper logs to convert to electronic logging, go back and enter QSO's from the previous couple years, to take advantage of this service. After seeing this disappointing results, I know we, in the Amateur Satellite community, can do better.

Hi Jeff,
I had a similar experience but not the volume you have. I found that some of my contacts did not have the proper SAT name that the TQSL program was looking for and I edited the file and wound up with about 15 more contacts. Just a thought..

Is there a logging standard that will make sure that LOTW finds the "match"? I know the time does not have to be dead-on, but what other fields are a must? Does anyone know, or is there a document that tells the satellite community what needs to be in the log? If I work AO-51 for example, what are the minimum number of fields that must be in the ADI (upload) file? thanks 73 Bill K3SV

I don't know if I would call it "disappointing", considering that LOTW just got set up for VUCC. Except for other awards like WAS or DXCC, VHF/UHF operators (including us on the satellites) really had no incentive to upload anything to LOTW. ARRL has been talking about adding VUCC support to LOTW for a while, and setting target dates to roll that out over the past couple of years - then seeing the dates slip. I can't fault anyone for not putting those QSOs into LOTW right away. It will happen, and I count myself as someone who will get their satellite QSOs loaded into LOTW. Be patient...
One thing that hasn't been mentioned a lot with the recent changes to LOTW is the ability to define a station location in more than one grid. This was not possible in the past, but now you can add up to 4 grids for a station location. This is huge for someone like me, who has thousands of grid-boundary QSOs that would have required extra QSO records to properly represent those QSOs in the past. QSOs done on other boundary lines (county, state/province, or national) still require multiple QSO records in LOTW from both stations to properly represent those QSOs. That is a manageable number for me and my log (around 100 QSOs out of almost 10000 on the satellites on those other types of boundaries).
