Good evening,
The XW-2E transponder sounded great at 2223Z over eastern North America. I worked W2JV, KE8AKW, and K8YSE and also heard KX9X.
The polarity shifts were challenging to keep up with, but other than that, signals were strong. I don't feel like the signals are much weaker than AO-73, even with only 1/3 of the power output.
Equipment here is 2 Yaesu FT-817s, a High Sierra Microwave LNAA146FIL filtered preamp, and a Arrow 146/437-10 yagi hand held (holding it in the hand was very important for keeping up with the polarity shifts).
