Re: [amsat-bb] FT-736 CAT Cable & Rotor controller
Hi Jeff, Further to the discussion on the fake chips etc can only recommend to go for the real stuff. No cheap FTDI imitations nor Prolific ones as I was running constantly into a lot of (driver) problems. Long story but after some time of driver problems decided to throw all cheap(er) ones out and go for the 100% real. Since than zero problems. Have the FT-736,FT-817 and IC-910 all connected this way at the same time to HRD. All my problems were gone once I decided to only use the original FTDI sets as eg advertised e.g. on http://www.g4zlp.co.uk/unified/YaesuCAT.shtml. 73 Albert PD0OXW

I still get mine on eBay, but look for vendors that state they have GENUINE Prolific or FDTI chips.

FYI,
The cables from RT Systems also work flawlessly. You can get cables with or without programming software
