Hi all
I bought a new Android tablet on Saturday - Version 7.0, Nougat.
AMSATDroid seems to work fine on it, other than displaying the date as "000001 29, 2018"
On the tablet, I did a Google Play Store search for Heavens-Above (which runs great on my smartphone, which is running some flavor of Android 4.x) and Heavens-Above didn't show up in the store...which I thought "okay, that's strange".
So tonight I went to the Heavens-Above website, thinking I would download the Android app from there. Google Play Store pops up with Heavens-Above app but I'm getting the message "Your device is not compatible with this version".
So, what I'm looking for - assuming that the Heavens-Above app won't be updated - is a similar app which will run under 7.0. How about Satellite Tracker from Tythatguy. or Satellite Tracker by Vito Technology (reading the reviews, the latter doesn't seem to be as useful as Heavens-Above or Tythatguy's version). Any others you might recommend?
Comments? Suggestions? Any way to make 7.0 backwardly compatible? <grin>

Hello Philip,
Try http://amsat.org.ar/pass it's free, works on tablets/smartphones, etc.
After first start, runs even without internet.
Good Luck and successful hunt of birds.

ISS Detector is my go to app for Android now. You have to purchase an extra pack or the Pro version to get amateur radio sats. Only thing I miss from Heavens-Above is it doesn't list time/azimuth of max elevation.

I second the vote for ISS Detector. If you buy the Amatuer Radio option for a few bucks, it is an excellent satellite AP. It even has a widget that constantly shows upcoming passes on the screen.

Holy cow, I overlooked ISS Detector thinking it was only for ISS. For $0.99 you remove the ads, add the Amateur satellites and can save the list of the ones you want!
If you want it for "free" get the Google opinion rewards app and answer a few surveys when they pop up and receive a bit of store credit.
Thank you John and Doug for the amazing recommendation.

Wow...i am blown away by ISS Detector! Like Don, I passed it by because I assumed it only dealt with ISS, and not any ham satellites...I had NO idea it had so many features!
I purchased the Pro version for my tablet, and downloaded the original with the amateur satellite add-on for my smartphone
Thanks again for the ISS Detector recommendation. Virgilio HP2VX also recommended this app in a private email to me, and Pedro LU7ABF reminded me of the AMSAT-Argentina website tracker, so thanks to them as well!

When I first saw it I thought the same thing. The feature that is the killer feature for me is also the filtering. I can see at a glance what sats are coming up. I love it when I have a spare hour or whatever. I can just open it up and see if there is something and go. Don't have to predict and plan passes out days in advance.

Hi,
My congratulations to the writers of ISS Detector. It has all the features that I would like to have added to AMSATDroidFree but I now have other priorities (tempus fugit)
To that end, I am making the source code to AMSATDroidFree available on a public repository on GitHub for those of you who like to tinker.
https://github.com/g4dpz/AmsatDroidFree https://github.com/g4dpz/AmsatDroidFree
I should like to thank all the people who given me suggestions and have downloaded it over the years and are still using the application.

For Android I have not found any better app than Iss Detector pro on handling ham Amateur Satellite data. For me, the Best!!!. I anchored my Phone on the homemade LPDA boom, point the sat guided by Detector screen and u r done..!!!
Happy to have helped .. 73's
