My trusty desktop computer has died due to hard drive failure and my saved copy of the Sat32PC registration code is not where I thought it was so I have a smqll question.
1. Is the a file in the current installation that I could copy over to a new installation in lieu of the registration code? Using a external hard drive adapter I can see some of my files, just can't boot from the drive)
2. I figure if I call/email AMSAT that they would send it to me.

Jacob,
I¹m sorry, but your timing couldn¹t be much worse. Martha (in the AMSAT office) just left on a well deserved vacation. She will be able to help you with the registration key when she returns on April 14th.
In the meantime, you could download and install the latest version of SatPC32 from Erich¹s website. Or you can copy the programs and configuration files from your old hard drive.
If the program comes up in ³Demo² mode, you can still use all of the features of the program. You¹ll just need to retype your latitude and longitude each time you start the program. It¹s annoying, but not a big deal. That should keep you operating until Martha returns on the 14th.
Sorry to hear about the drive failure.

Jacob,
If you can locate the file DATEN.TXT you can find the registration there. It is probably in your C:\USERS\JACOB\AppData\Roaming\SatPC32 directory. I guessed JACOB, but use whatever you actually use. There is also a backup directory in the Roaming directory which also has it.

Bruce,
It wasn't wrong; DATEN.TXT is on my computer. I just looked, and so is USERDATEN.TXT. Both copies have exactly the same time stamps in 2011. Hmmmmm?
With luck Jacob can find one of them.

Good Evening,
My kids, WX4TVJ, WA4BBC, and KM4IPF were all just on SO-50 as it crossed our location in FM16vs at 1715-1726 EDT. Two of them made confirmed contacts with stations (I believe they were KV4VT and WX9X), but Mommy’s phone did not record the QSO’s. If anyone on the list worked any of these kids, would you please confirm here? They want to send you QSL cards.
They were using two UV5R’s and an Arrow antenna on one of my TV tripods out in a park near our home. This is the first time they have made satellite contacts with their own equipment. Hope made her first QSO ever as a licensed ham last month on satellite using W4BUE’s station. Zechariah and Faith Hannah also made contacts that day, but this is the first time using their own equipment.
Thanks and 73,
James Lea, WX4TV
