"Moon Day" satellite passes Saturday 7/21
AMSAT Will be represented at a large space themed STEM event at the Frontiers of flight museum in Dallas this coming Saturday. "Moon Day" will feature astronomy and space themed exhibits from many organizations from our area here in North Texas. Special speaker will be NASA Astronaut Douglas Wheelock, KF5BOC most recently on ISS Expedition 24. https://www.flightmuseum.com/moon-day/
Keith Pugh, W5IU, Mac Cody, AE5PH, Jay Cox, KG5BZW and myself, N5HYP will anchor the AMSAT presence at the event from 10-4P CDT
We will have an opportunity to talk about amateur radio and especially amateur satellites to upwards of 1500 families and young people from all over. Most all of them will be non-hams. We will be doing contacts on all the FM satellites between 10AM and 4PM CDT using a shared call sign, W5FC, thanks to the Dallas Amateur Radio Club, our neighbors in the indoor exhibit area. Thanks also to Joe Spier, AMSAT president for loaning the Fox satellite mock up for display.
It WILL be hot with a projected Dallas record high of 110 degrees so we won't be outside for long each pass but if you do hear W5FC from EM12 Moon Day, give us a shout please. I am sure Patrick Stoddard has done hotter passes, but this should be close.
73 and see you on the birds tomorrow.
