With RS-12, when 10m was open, the satellite could be hard to hear at lower elevations. However, you could sometimes hear it (and use it) while it was on the other side of the planet.

I recall making a few Mode T QSO's on RS-12. What was strange was there was no Doppler on the downlink and it was very clear copy. I recall hearing some UA's calling on the 15 meter uplink but there was no way they could copy the 2 meter downlink as the footprint only covered Northern Canada.
