Thanks so much for all of the replies. I wasn't up to date on the schedule for AO-51. I made my first contact from Hawaii this evening (Thursday) and I'm quite thrilled. I'll try again Friday evening during at least one of the two passes visible from Hawaii.

I'm not in Hawaii, but think I know why you may not have heard anyone. Tuesday, Wednesday and today (Thursday) the uplink frequency is 1268.700M MHz. I doubt very many people have 1.2 Gig equipment, especially the limited number of potential users in Hawaii.
A0-51 should be back in V/U mode soon (if not already), so you should have better luck on the next few passes. And.. You can actually talk back with a W32A!
Here is the AO-51 schedule through February.
