,,,, ,, this is too bad. it was invaluable for those out in the backwoods for 1.fun- sending emails out 2.need-EMERGENCY BEACONS via aprs. i tried it once, sending an email via the ISS and it is super cool. is something taking it's place, or will we all need GMDSS (global marine distress and safety system) on land now ? or i guess the regular PLB (personal locator beacons) but no position information on those.

The subject SATgates are the old PACSAT (not Pcsat) BBS systems.
The Global APRS internet (Igate) and "satgate" system remains. You can send a one-line packet email from just about anywhere at any time on any APRS frequency, and the email should arrive by email just about anywhere. Bob, WB4APR
