Many of us have been following UT1FG/MM as he sails from port to port, operating on the birds and 6 meters. When Yuri left port in Nicaragua a few days ago, he emailed the bad news that his 12v power supply that runs his IC706 had failed and could not be fixed.
This prompted an effort to find a way to replace that power supply and insure continued operating as he sails up to Montreal Canada. The solution was eventually found and thanks to the efforts of Captain Manolis Joannou, HP1CQ, Yuri continues to operate.
An abbreviated version of the story of International good will and extreme determination to succeed is now posted on my website. This hobby is more than just operating and making contacts. For the rest of the story, please visit this webpage:

Thanks a lot k8yse John for recording Liz's first sat contact. We just played the recording and realize that there were other people calling Liz. We weren't listening as we're getting our new shack ready for the carpet installers that are going to show up this morning. Liz says a big thank you for the contact, and the recording of the event....

After many years of repairing equipment on ships, I know how stable the AC is (NOT) onboard. Power supplies are the first thing to go. I hope there are no "Sperry items" onboard Yuri. I was a longtime employee by them..HA! 73, Dee, NB2F
