IT-1.50 _vs_ new TZ rules
I guess I wasn't tracking as much last year when they re-arranged the Daylight Saving TZ rules... It appears that InstantTrack is confused. The clock time is ok, but it thinks it is still Standard Time which throws the UTC offset... Only thing that comes to mind is to force it in the file "it.ini" with a line "timezone = CDT5" ...
Unless there is a better workaround that I missed, thought I'd offer this solution for anyone else that may still enjoy InstantTrack. This has been one of my favorite programs for almost 20 years now. Thanks again Franklin and Paul !!! 73 Bravo-Zulu
Alan, I did the same with est and it seems to work fine. I'll just have to remember to change it on the first Sunday of April. 73 de Doug KA8QCU

I think I'll just change it manually twice/yr (in file: it.ini) (at least until THEY decide that the new sked is no good, and change back..)
### timezone = CST6CDT ### doesn't work with new date schedule ### timezone = CDT5 # switch to this in spring # timezone = CST6 # switch to this in the fall

Force it? That's how the instructions tell you to do it. It's the correct method.
IT works fine for me with no dos boxes, cludges or other programs. I use Win XP and just run it. My computer clock is always set to GMT.

Actually, the line I have been using in InstantTrack since forever would be the 'timezone = CST6CDT' reference... And it has worked well.
Unfortunately our local 'time-lords' have determined that the general public would be better off if they changed the schedule by which we switch into and outof this accursed "Daylight Saving" mode...
So now we have to 'force' InstantTrack to begin considering our PC clocks to have "Daylight Savings Time" a week or so early. And then 'unforce' it later than usual. The automatic switching into and outof Daylight Saving TZ adjustment now needs to be done manually.
Thanks /;^)
You can generate custom Windows time zones with a Mictosoft utily TZEDIT.EXE It's supposedly downloadable from their web site as part of the resource kit for your OS.

For XP it's here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=9d467a69-57ff-4ae7-...

Yup, that is what I used last year to fixup Win2000Pro systems for use with this 'new' schedule. The XP systems got their fix from auto-updates.
As I mentioned earlier, the PC knows what time it is, and has the correct zone info. It is InstantTrack that doesn't know the new schedule, but as we can fix that manually - it is not an issue. I still consider it a blessing that we got v1.5 to handle the infamous Y2K problem.
Thanks to Paul for the pointer to DosBox.com ... hadn't heard of that. I had assumed that the other fellow's reference was to a "DOS" box (PC). Looks like it's worth a shot. (May even have to try QuikTrack again.)

Easier to just leave the shack PC and clock set to UTC.
